Keira Knightley, Sir Paul McCartney and David Beckham have teamed up for a TV sketch to support British charity Comic Relief. Rupert Grint, George Michael and funnyman James Corden also feature in the skit, which shows the stars fighting over who should go to Africa as a celebrity ambassador for the organisation. Corden volunteers – but MCCartney tells the Gavin & Stacey star he’s too fat for the trip, quipping: “People don’t like seeing tubby people over in Africa. If they hadn’t eaten so much, no one would be starving.” Beckham is also turned down as he “can’t cry”, while Keira is rejected from the mission for being “too gorgeous”. The annual Comic Relief fundraiser telethon will hit screens in Britain in March.

Keira Knightley sang away her blues following her split from longtime boyfriend Rupert Friend by hitting a karaoke bar with Sienna Miller and a group of pals. The couple, which met on the set of 2005 movie Pride & Prejudice, decided to end its five-year relationship shortly before Christmas, according to the actress’ father Will. But Knightley has refused to wallow in self-pity at home, and hit the streets of London for a night of sing-along fun with friends, including her “The Edge of Love” co-star Miller. The group showed off their vocal skills on tracks such as Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” and Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ On A Prayer” while drinking Cosmopolitan cocktails at the Lucky Voice karaoke bar, according to Britain’s The Sun. A source tells the newspaper, “It was a pretty raucous affair. The girls went really crazy for Cosmopolitans. They weren’t holding back at all. “There were about 12 people in the group, but no diva-like antics. They all got stuck in (involved).”

Keira Knightley jumped at the chance to star in new movie “Never Let Me Go” when she realised she would have the chance to work with her close friend Carey Mulligan. The British actresses met when they played sisters in the 2005 re-telling of Jane Austen’s classic love story “Pride & Prejudice” and have remained close ever since. They teamed up again in 2009 to shoot a big screen adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s haunting novel, which tells the story of friends at an English boarding school who share a tragic secret, and the film has been tipped for awards season success. And Knightley admits she took the role in the drama after learning she’d be onscreen with Mulligan once again. She tells Britain’s Telegraph magazine, “Carey was one of the reasons I wanted to do this. She and I worked together on “Pride & Prejudice” and we’ve been friends ever since. We’ve been on holiday together. “It’s rare you get the opportunity to work with people who are friends. When you play characters like this, that have the relationships they do, it’s lovely working with someone with whom you have a shorthand and a history.”

Keira Knightley deliberately dresses down when she is out in public because she’s too shy to talk to her fans. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star admits she struggles with fame because she is naturally “very shy” and feels uncomfortable when members of the public stop her in the street. Knightley always wears her scruffiest clothes when out and about in a bid to go unnoticed, and avoids showbiz parties to maintain her low profile, but the 25 year old fears her tactics aren’t working. She tells Britain’s Vogue magazine, “I think it (fame) broke something in me. I was told very early on that if I didn’t go out to openings and parties and events I would be left alone. I didn’t, and they still didn’t leave me alone. “I knew it was part of the deal in the life I had signed up to, but the fear of it has never left me. I’m still not good at being recognised. I wear scruffy clothes and hats and keep my head well down. I’m sure people must think I’m a complete b**ch, but I’m just very shy.” And Knightley is convinced she has riled gossip columnists over the years by failing to provide them with any scandal, adding, “I was so young when it started. I was involved in Pirates from the age of 17 until 21. At that time people couldn’t get enough of people falling out of nightclubs with their knickers showing and I wasn’t giving them that – and I think it infuriated them.”

Keira Knightley has split from her long-term boyfriend. The “Atonement” actress and actor Rupert Friend decided to call time on their five-year romance just after Christmas and although they are both devastated, the decision to break up was mutual. Keira’s father Will Knightley told The Sun newspaper: “Yes, they have broken up. But that’s the way things go, unfortunately. I’ve spoken to her recently. The only option is to get on with things. “They were together for quite a long time and it is always hard breaking up. She’s focused on her work.” Keira, 25, met 29-year-old Rupert on the set of 2005 movie “Pride and Prejudice” but sources claim Rupert started to find it difficult as his girlfriend became more famous and successful. A friend said: “Rupert hates the idea of being followed or photographed. Keira partially had to accept it because of her rising profile. “It affected the harmony in the relationship. The pressure on such private people took its toll and both decided they should go their separate ways. They will remain life-long friends.” In 2009, Keira hinted her relationship with Rupert was on the rocks as she starred in the West End show “The Misanthrope” where she portrayed 22-year-old movie star Jennifer. Speaking of the character, she said: “Do I recognise being an extremely well-known young actress? Yes. And she’s in the middle of a world full of people who are quite a bit older than her. She’s having a problem with her boyfriend. No comment.”
