Keira Knightley’s film “Last Night” is to open the Rome Film Festival, organisers have announced. The film, which also stars “Clash of the Titans” Sam Worthington, is described as “a romantic tale of sexual attraction, betrayal, and jealousy”. The event runs from October 28 to November 05. There will also be a spotlight on Japanese cinema and culture including an event dedicated to film-maker Akira Kurosawa on the centenary of his birth. It will feature a restored version of his 1950 film “Rashomon”. “Cinema Paradiso” director Giuseppe Tornatore will head up the jury deciding the Marc’Aurelio awards including for best film, actor and actress.

noneAnother film “Last Night” has shared a sneak peek as it is going to take part at upcoming Toronto International Film Festival. The first official photo released for the movie highlights Keira Knightley and Guillaume Canet’s romantic scene as the British beauty is seen putting her hand on his shoulder while they are standing face to face. In the drama, Knightley is actually starring as Joanna Reed, the wife of Sam Worthington’s Michael. After attending one of Michael’s business parties, Joanna notices a curious moment between him and his co-worker Laura, who is portrayed by Eva Mendes. The happily married couple then is tempted to stray as Michael goes on a business trip with Laura while Joanna encounters her past love, played by Canet, at home. “Last Night” serves as Massy Tadjedin directorial debut working from her own script. It will be screened as the closing night film at the 35th Annual Toronto International Film Festival running September 9-19. No U.S. release date is set for the movie yet.

Director Mark Romanek struggled to make Keira Knightley look like a dowdy teen in his new film Never Let Me Go – because the actress looked “astonishing” throughout the shoot. The filmmaker takes charge of the coming-of-age tale, adapted from the book by Kazuo Ishiguro, which tells the tale of three students whose world falls apart when they leave their boarding school. The trio is played by Knightley, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield, and Romanek insists it was almost impossible to make the Pirates of the Caribbean beauty appear plain. He tells Britain’s Daily Express, “It was difficult. She was eager and happy to do it because the role called for it. But even at her worst, Keira still looks astonishing.”

Film producer Jerry Bruckheimer has revealed that it was “time to move on” from Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley in the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise. The Oscar-winning film producer, who worked with the stars on the first three movies in the popular series, has revealed there is no need for the A-list duo to appear in the fourth instalment as the stories of their characters Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann have already been told, reports femalefirst.co.uk. “The characters are after the Fountain of Youth, that’s the plot. We have no Orlando or Keira but you move on. They were great but I think it was time to move on – we’d told their stories,” said Bruckheimer.
